Mrs. Cato leads the firm’s employment law practice group. She is certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a specialist in labor and employment law. Mrs. Cato is also a certified mediator. She handles all aspects of employment contracts, wage/hour, affirmative action, union avoidance and campaigns, non-compete contracts, employment discrimination, and unemployment compensation. Mrs. Cato also practices in the area of business immigration law, assisting employers with obtaining temporary visas for employees to work in the United States.
She graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in advertising. Mrs. Cato received her Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She is admitted to practice in the State Courts of South Carolina, the United States District Court for South Carolina, the United States Court of Appeals, Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Richland County Bar Association, the Lexington County Bar Association, the South Carolina Economic Developers’ Association, and the Greenwood County Chamber of Commerce. She is a member of the Steering Committee for the Labor & Employment Division of the Construction Forum of the American Bar Association. From 1999-2003, Mrs. Cato served as Treasurer of the South Carolina Diversity Council. She currently serves as President and member of the Board of Directors of the Palmetto Center for Women.
