Mr. Courie is a founding partner and the Managing Partner of the law firm of McAngus Goudelock & Courie, LLC. Mr. Courie’s practice focuses on state and local governmental relations and procurement, business development and strategic planning.
Mr. Courie has extensive knowledge of the workings of state and local government. He was elected three times by the South Carolina General Assembly to the Board of Trustees of Francis Marion University later serving as Chairman. Mr. Courie also served two years as the Governor’s designee on the South Carolina Jobs Economic Development Authority. He is the immediate Past President of the 900-member South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys' Association and continues to serve as member of their Executive Committee. Mr. Courie is a member of the South Carolina Bar and its Government, Workers’ Compensation, and Employment Law Sections. He is also a member of the International Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute where he serves as Vice Chair of the Law Practice Management Committee, the South Carolina Captive Insurance Association, the South Carolina Administrative and Regulatory Law Association, and the South Carolina Workers’ Compensation Educational Association. Mr. Courie serves on the Board of Directors for EdVenture Children’s Museum, the Columbia Downtown Business Association, and Hammond School. He is a graduate of Leadership Columbia and Leadership South Carolina.
Mr. Courie also serves as President and Chairman of MG&C Consulting Services, LLC. His practice and consulting areas involve state and local governmental relations with an emphasis on governmental and business policy, planning, procurement and risk management. He is a frequent lecturer on matters involving state and local government, business development, strategic planning and law firm management.
