MG&C Attorney Donna Givens Elected President of SCDTAA
McAngus Goudelock & Courie, LLC is pleased to announce attorney Donna Givens has been elected President of the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association (SCDTAA) for 2007-2008. She is the second woman elected president in forty years since the SCDTAA’s inception in 1968.
Donna is a member of the firm’s Columbia office, and she practices in the area of litigation including civil rights defense, tort claims act defense, auto torts, mediation, construction, and insurance coverage. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from Francis Marion College in 1985, and a Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1988. Donna is a certified mediator and arbitrator and has tried over 100 cases and mediated more than 400 cases. She was elected to the House of Delegates of the South Carolina Bar in 2004, and she was appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to serve as Commissioner on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Commission. From 1993 to 1996, Donna served on the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline. She is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association, and Defense Research Institute.
