Nature of the Scholarships
The MGC Diversity Scholarship Program will award up to five CLM scholarships.

  • Claims College: Three of the scholarships will cover the cost of the course fee and lodging for the 2022 Claims College in Baltimore, September 7-10, 2022.
  • Litigation Management Institute (“LMI”): Two of the scholarships will cover the cost of the course fee and lodging for the October 20-23, 2022 Litigation Management Institute (“LMI”) in Chicago

Travel costs, incidental expenses, and meals are not included in the scholarship.

The application period is now closed for both the Claims College and the LMI Scholarship.

  • CLAIMS COLLEGE | MGC Diversity Scholarship Program Details

    Claims College Diversity Scholarship Program Timeline (subject to change, as needed):
    • Application Submission Deadline: July 10, 2022
    • Review of Applications: July 13 – August 1, 2022
    • Scholarship Awards Notification: No later than August 12, 2022

    Eligibility
    We welcome applications from all CLM fellows (insurance industry professionals) who meet all of the criteria below:

    • Demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within their local and/or global communities
    • Are Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American and/or multi-racial, and/or are LGBTQ+, and/or are female (regardless of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation/identity/expression) and/or have a physical or mental disability.

    Selection criteria
    Scholarship recipients will be selected based on consideration of the following factors:

    • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion
    • Personal achievement and honors
    • Demonstrated leadership ability
    • Community service

    Applications Must Include:

    Submission of a complete and accurate MGC Diversity Scholarship application (only one application per individual will be considered). Applicants for the MGC Diversity Scholarship for CLM’s Claims College will not be considered for the MGC Diversity Scholarship for CLM’s Litigation Management Institute.

    Claims College Applicants must submit the following to diversity@mgclaw.com: 

    • A personal statement – no more than one single-spaced page in length – about how you meet the eligibility and selection criteria listed above
    • A statement – no more than one single-spaced page in length – about your entry into the claims industry and the challenges and benefits you have experienced as a diverse individual in the industry

    Additional Information

    • Applicants for the LMI scholarships may be subject to an interview process.
    • There may be tax implications for scholarship recipients. Scholarship winners will receive a Form 1099. Please consult your tax advisor with any questions about taxes.
