MGC CLM DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM TIMELINE | CLAIMS COLLEGE

Scholarship Awards Notification: no later than July 7, 2023NATURE OF THE SCHOLARSHIPS
The MGC Diversity Scholarship Program will award up to five CLM scholarships. Two of the scholarships will cover the cost of the course fee and lodging for CLM’s Claims College in Baltimore from August 16-19, 2023. Three of the scholarships will cover the cost of the course fee and lodging for CLM’s Litigation Management Institute (“LMI”) in Chicago from October 19-22, 2023. Travel costs, incidental expenses and meals are not included in the scholarship.This MGC Diversity Scholarship application is specifically for Claims College attendees. The application for LMI attendees will be announced later this year.
ELIGIBILITY
We welcome applications from all CLM fellows (insurance industry professionals) who meet all of the following criteria:
• Demonstrate a commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion within their local and/or global communities.
• Are Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American and/or multi-racial, and/or are LGBTQ+, and/or are female (regardless of race, ethnicity or sexual orientation/identity/expression) and/or have a physical or mental disability.Past applicants are encouraged to reapply. Prior scholarship recipients are not eligible.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Scholarship recipients will be selected based on consideration of the following factors:
• Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion
• Personal achievement and honors
• Demonstrated leadership ability
• Community serviceAPPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
• Submission of a complete and accurate MGC Diversity Scholarship application. Only one application per individual will be considered. Applicants for the MGC Diversity Scholarship for CLM’s Claims College will not be considered for the MGC Diversity Scholarship for CLM’s Litigation Management Institute.
• A personal statement – no more than one single-spaced page in length – about how you meet the eligibility and selection criteria listed above. You will be asked to upload these documents at the end of the application.
• A second personal statement – no more than one single-spaced page in length – about your entry into the claims industry and the challenges and benefits you have experienced as a diverse individual in the industry. You will be asked to upload these documents at the end of the application.ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• There may be tax implications for scholarship recipients. Scholarship winners will receive a Form 1099. Please consult your tax advisor with any questions about taxes.
