JD Smith has practiced insurance defense and litigation for over 20 years, with a focus on construction defect litigation, personal injury defense, products liability, professional liability, trucking and insurance coverage. JD regularly defends general contractors, subcontractors and design professionals in construction defect litigation brought along the counties of coastal South Carolina. His practice also includes the defense of insured defendants in automobile and trucking accidents, premises liability suits, products liability cases and other insurance based claims. He also provides insurance coverage analysis for his insurance carrier clients. JD strives to provide timely reporting necessary to evaluate and update a claim; he focuses on accurately analyzing the claim at an early stage to give the client the best option for a favorable resolution. JD serves on MGC’s Trucking: Rapid Response Team.

When he’s away from the office, JD spends time with his wife and three children and enjoys running and keeping up with college football, basketball and baseball.
