David Zizik has spent more than 35 years in the practice of law in service to the insurance industry. Early in his legal career, he defended insureds and self-insureds in civil bench and jury trials. Now, David’s practice focuses on insurance coverage and extra-contractual liability defense for insurance companies and TPA’s throughout the United States.
David concentrates his practice on the analysis of commercial and personal lines insurance coverage issues, drafting coverage opinions for insurance companies and TPA’s, and litigating insurance coverage disputes and defending carriers’ good faith in numerous state and federal trial and appellate courts in Rhode Island, Massachusetts and other jurisdictions.
David has been recognized for his achievements in the legal industry and holds an AV Preeminent® Peer Review Rating™ by Martindale-Hubbell®. He is a Fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel and has served as Minority Counsel to the Rhode Island Senate (1981), President of the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys (ADTA, 2013-2014) and on the Board of Directors for DRI – The Voice of the Defense Bar (2012-2015). David is a member of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel (FDCC) and the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC).
David’s experience trying cases and working with front line adjusters has informed his insurance coverage practice by enabling him to set goals and strategies early on in every matter aimed at resolving disputes and closing files. At the same time, he can effectively navigate complex insurance issues in contentious coverage litigation, extracontractual liability claims and first-party property coverage disputes.
David enjoys spending time at the Hope Club in Providence, RI and volunteering at PGA Tour events, most recently at the Sentry Tournament of Champions in Maui. He serves on the Finance Council of St. Sebastian Parish on the East Side of Providence. David and his wife, Karen, enjoy spending time with their granddaughter, Vivian Rose, and grandson, Zachary.
