RALEIGH, NC – Raleigh attorney JD Keister of law firm McAngus Goudelock & Courie (MGC) was elected President of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys (NCADA). NCADA’s mission is to bring together civil trial attorneys to promote the administration of justice, the exchange of information, ideas and litigation techniques and to strengthen the practice, improve the skills and enhance the knowledge of lawyers who defend individuals and represent businesses in civil cases in North Carolina.

Keister has practiced civil and complex litigation at MGC for nearly two decades. He routinely engages in the representation of parties in construction, professional liability, bad faith, real estate litigation, catastrophic loss, commercial litigation and first party defense for insurance carriers. Keister has served on a number of industry panels and internal carrier roundtables, assisting in the design and implementation of systems and processes. He is a regular presenter to national organizations on topics impacting the industry, litigation management and metrics. Keister serves as MGC’s Practice Area Leader for Litigation, guiding the firm’s group of lawyers and legal professionals in serving the client community.

Keister is known in the insurance industry for his involvement with various litigation management professional associations. He also serves as a Dean to CLM’s School of Litigation Management, a Chancellor and Instructor at CLM’s Litigation Management Institute (LMI) and a Chair for the Litigation Management Symposium. Keister is a former member of the DRI Insurance Roundtable Steering Committee. In 2023, he was named the CLM Professional of the Year Award winner as Outside Counsel. He was also named to the Business Defense Power List in 2023 by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly and has been recognized for his practice by Business North Carolina Legal Elite, North Carolina Super Lawyers and Martindale-Hubbell®.
