Expanding the firm’s capability to serve Virginia, DC and Maryland

COLUMBIA, SC – Law firm McAngus Goudelock & Courie (MGC) has expanded into Alexandria, marking its second office in Virginia and 23rd nationwide. The Alexandria team will service Northern Virginia, DC and Maryland, led by two seasoned trial attorneys:

John Loughney has nearly a decade of experience representing clients in civil litigation matters, with a focus on tort and malpractice defense, throughout state and federal courts in Maryland and state courts in the District of Columbia. He holds a Juris Doctor from William and Mary Law School and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maryland at College Park, where he graduated summa cum laude. John is a member of DRI and serves with the Arlington Region Virginia Master Naturalists—a group of trained volunteers who work to restore and maintain healthy ecosystems in public lands.

Ben Woody has over a decade of experience defending clients in catastrophic personal injury claims, property damage claims and insurance coverage disputes throughout state and federal courts in Virginia, North Carolina, Maryland and the District of Columbia. He holds a Master of Laws in Admiralty from Tulane University Law School, a Juris Doctor from Elon University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. John is the co-chair of the Transportation and Admiralty Section of the Virginia Bar Association, a member of the American Bar Association Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice's Admiralty and Maritime Law Committee and the former chair of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys' Products and Toxic Torts Section.
