MGC Secures Complete Defense Win in Trucking Trial

After a five-day trial, the Wake County, North Carolina jury deliberated for just six minutes before returning a defense verdict for MGC’s client. Meredith Cushing and Stephen Pytlik of MGC represented a national company, the local contractor and the driver in a case where a man claimed he was backed into in his driveway causing severe personal injury.

In pre-trial motions, MGC obtained summary judgment on four of plaintiff’s claims: gross negligence, punitive damages, trespass and breach of contract. Plaintiff asked the jury to award $3,000,000 in closing argument. The jury found that the defendants were not negligent leading to a complete defense victory.
