Attorney Dominic Starr has nearly three decades of high exposure litigation experience, trying more than fifty cases to jury verdict in state and federal courts in several jurisdictions. In 2008, he joined MGC, opening the firm’s fourth location in Myrtle Beach. Dominic was named among The Best Lawyers in America in 2020, South Carolina Super Lawyers in 2013 and 2014 and was a recipient of the South Carolina Lawyers Weekly Leadership in Law award in 2012 for his litigation work and impact on the legal industry.
“The primary coverage issue that we will see from the COVID-19 crisis is whether there is coverage for business interruption under various commercial policies,” says Dominic. “Language in most policies makes coverage questionable.” As a member of MGC’s COVID-19 Response Team, he urges clients to handle COVID-19 claims very carefully and uniformly, while staying informed on the progressive matter. “Make sure that these claims are being handled the same way among all claims handlers,” Dominic adds. “Create a policy/procedure for working with insureds through their claims process.”
Whether working remotely or in the MGC office, during normal business hours or not, Dominic is adamant on being accessible to clients anytime and anywhere. “Our clients and attorneys are working in new and changing environments on a regular basis. Finding ways to stay connected is important.”
